  Are you dependent on your HDAS alerts? Have you saved your favourite HDAS searches? You’ll need to move them! HDAS – healthcare databases advanced search - is being withdrawn 31 st March 2022. You will not be able to use HDAS after this date. If you have any saved alerts or searches that you want to keep you will need to move them to the database platforms. What are the database platforms? The main NHS databases – such as CINAHL, Medline, Embase, PsyInfo etc – are hosted on the Ebsco , Proquest or Ovid platforms. Which database and platform do I need? Upskill to using the host platforms to search the healthcare databases You will still have access to the major healthcare databases such as Cinahl, Embase, Medline, PsycInfo etc. After March 31st you will need to search these databases by using their host platforms.  NICE are withdrawing HDAS - the interface that allows you to search the healthcare databases from a single interface. After the 31st March 2022 you will no longer be able to use this product to complete literature searches against databases such as Cinahl, Embase, Medline, PsycInfo etc. Please check this blog regularly for more details.

The databases available include major medical and nursing databases such as AMED, CINAHL, Embase, Emcare, Medline and PsychInfo. HDAS is available to all NHS staff . You will need your OpenAthens username / password to login. Note that you must login in order to access the advanced searching options and all the databases available. HDAS or Healthcare Databases Advanced Search, is the common search interface that allows you to use the same interface and options to search the different databases provided nationally by the NHS. The databases currently available include: AMED, BNI, CINAHL, EMBASE, EMCARE, HMIC, Medline and PsychInfo. You'll be able to search across a wide field of topics to find the articles you need for your literature search. HDAS is available to NHS staff via your NHS OpenAthens username. HDAS has built up a large amount of saved data, which has a potential impact on performance. Please review your saved search strategies and saved results and delete any that you don’t need any more, or export those that you do. To delete any saved search strategies: Delete any saved search strategies you no longer need by clicking My Search Strategies . This will delete any results saved against that strategy. To delete any saved search results only: If you want to keep the search strategy, you can delete just the results saved against it by going to your Saved Results – you’ll see each set of results, with a date and name of search, with the bin icon at the end of the row – clicking on the bin will delete just your saved results. To export any saved search results: If you have saved results that you need to keep indefinitely, please export them using one of the formats available (Word, PDF, Excel or RIS) and save them outside of HDAS. The NHS National Core Content collection will be changing from April 2019. The National Core Content collection is the databases and journals that are purchased nationally for staff working within the NHS in England. You access these resources via your NHS openathens login. The database collection forms part of HDAS – the Healthcare Databases Advanced Search database. You can find a full list of all the resources included via the NHS Library Services website . Database List on HDAS This April there will be a number of changes that may impact any saved searches you have or how you conduct new searches: Key Changes: CINAHL Plus with Full Text and Health Business Elite (HBE) will no longer be part of the collection. This means that from 01 April 2019 you will not be able to access and search these databases in HDAS, or via the EBSCO native interface as part of the Core Content subscription. Please see the reminders below of what you need to do to prepare for this. In particular we would like to draw your attention to the reminder to update any links you might have, both to HDAS as well as to the journals and database page. What do I need to do? 1.         Ensure you have completed the migration of your saved searches and alerts For those who haven’t already done so, you should ensure that you have completed the migration of your saved searches and alerts. All saved searches and alerts set up from 2008 onwards in old HDAS (and in the BETA version) have been migrated to the new system. Error : There is a known error within the HDAS databases which can cause an "article not found" error when trying to link to the full-text of an article returned in search results. See example below: Screen-shot of an example "article not found" error This is occurring because there is a mis-match of data about the article / journal title between the list that HDAS relies on (the OCLC link resolver) and the provider/publisher data (eg Proquest or Medline Complete etc). We have noticed that this can occur when the journal includes online-only content as well as providing a print issue. Work Round : It is most likely that the article full-text is available within the provider / publisher content - you can try to search for the article title there. NICE Evidence Resources Update Following the launch of new HDAS on Monday 17th October and as part of our plans to support the transition of users over to the new system, users will not be able to save searches in old HDAS from Tuesday 1 November 2016. _________________________________________________________________________ You are strongly advised to migrate your save searches and alerts as soon as possible. The new HDAS works differently from old HDAS and some searches / alerts may not work and will need to be re-worked in new HDAS. Please give yourselves time to do this.

We have received the following information from NICE Evidence Services regarding the implementation of the new version of HDAS. Launch of the new HDAS service from Monday 17 October We plan to launch the new version of the HDAS system so that it is available from 9am on  Monday 17 October.   You will be able to access it from the journals and databases page, or by going directly to  http://hdas.nice.org.uk . The BETA version of the new HDAS site will no longer be available from midday Friday 14 October. Please make sure you are logged out of the BETA version by then. All saved searches and alerts set up from 2008 onwards in old HDAS (and in the BETA version) will be migrated to the new system so that they are available to users from Monday 17 October.  More details about what you need to do to migrate your searches will be provided later this week. NICE Evidence are upgrading HDAS – the NHS Databases interface. There are a number of important issues that you need to be aware of. 1. You can access the new / beta-test HDAS now. This is expected to go live sometime toward the end of October (no fixed date available). Access new / beta-test HDAS here . Note that you must login with your NHS Athens username. 2. The old / current HDAS is expected to run in parallel for 6-8 weeks following the implementation of the new / beta-test HDAS – possibly up to Christmas (no fixed date available). 3. It is expected that there will be some sort of facility that will allow users to manually transfer saved searches and alerts from the old / current HDAS to the new / beta-test HDAS. This will be available for a short period after the implementation of new / beta-test HDAS. However… 4.
