The help available on the Health Library website has now been simplified. The FAQ section was poorly used and no longer exists. The Help section has been simplified and hopefully is easier to follow.

What is it? The Health Library Training Programme is a schedule of face-to-face training courses, designed to help you to develop your information skills. It is issued every 3 months. Key Features The courses available include Health Library Induction Plus – where you can get an introduction to the library facilities, services and resources as well as an overview of some of the most important online healthcare resources. Literature Searching using databases – this course is provided in 2 versions, one covering NHS-based databases and one covering Keele-subscribed databases. You’ll learn how to create a search strategy and apply it to specialist healthcare databases. Evidence-based Databases – this is another course available as either an NHS or Keele version. Here you’ll learn about secondary evidence-based resources such as the Cochrane Library along with others. Critical Appraisal for Beginners – start developing your critical appraisal skills and practice apprai...

What is it? The Health Library has a channel on YouTube . Here you can find videos to help you to learn more about what we can offer you, how you can access our resources and how you can develop your information skills. How to access it? Our YouTube channel is freely available on the Internet. Did you know? Our most popular video is of our training librarian Mariet talking how to use the index of a book to find information quickly.

The Health Library is here to support NHS staff as well as Keele University students. We have a number of services especially to support NHS staff. As the new term is well underway, here are a few resources to remind returning students that the library is here to support them. Health Library Introduction – short video giving you the basics of who we are and what we do. Using the Health Library – students can try our interactive map to learn more about the services and facilities at the Health Library. Getting Started – students can refresh their memory about our major resources. Check Your Skills – our new etutorial can help students to assess their own information searching skills. It includes an action plan at the end to help students to develop their skills. Information Skills – students can refresh their information and literature searching skills by completing our etutorials.

We're here to help you get the evidence you need. Last quarter we: completed 38 literature searches for staff delivered 176 training sessions supplied 39 inter-library loan requests registered 336 new athens accounts Quarterly statistics

Are you just starting in the NHS in North Staffordshire? Did you know that you can join the Health Library? NHS staff from our NHS partners can join the library. We have more than just books to help support your work. With your library card you will be able to: Borrow items from the library (we have DVDs as well as books) Request Inter-Library Loans Request a Literature Search Book on a training course Access the Keele network via walk-in access Pay for photocopying and printing Access the library during evenings and weekends Why don’t you come along and join. Complete our application form and bring it with your NHS ID to the library counter. For access to our online resources make sure that you register for an NHS Athens username .
