Using Ovid to search NHS databases

 Use the OVID databases to complete a comprehensive literature search. Ovid hosts key healthcare databases AMED (for alternative and allied health topics),  Emcare  (for nursing topics), Embase (for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and biomedical topics), HMIC (for management topics) and  Medline  (a general medical database). The following resources can help you to get to grips with searching on the Ovid platform. Embase: Resource of the week #31

What is it? Embase is an online bibliographic database that focuses on drug and pharmacological topics. Key Features The database covers: - Over 30 million abstracts and indices from more than 8,500 published, peer-reviewed journals, as well as in-press publications and conferences - More than 6 million records and indexes 2,900 journals NOT covered in MEDLINE - Full-text indexing of drug, disease and medical device data, supported by the precise Emtree thesaurus How can it help you? You can search the database for articles and research studies relating to drugs and medicines as well as biotechnology subjects. How to access it? This resource is only available to NHS users. The NHS subscription is with Embase via the Ovid platform. It is one of the key resources available via HDAS . You will need to log on with your NHS openathens username. More help?
