We’ve made major strides recently, including  Automated Q&A – more milestones ,  Automated Reviews – internal testing , and  Automated Q&A – ready for beta testing .  The TRIP database is a user-friendly search engine making it easy for you to find high-level, good quality information and research. Focusing on healthcare evidence this database offers you the opportunity of completing simple searching as well PICO-based searching and allows you to focus results by content type. Some functionality is freely available without the need to login. You can "go pro" by logging in with your NHS OpenAthens username to access extra resources and functionality. You can link to the TRIP database from our NHS Resources page , where you'll find a list of key NHS-based resources and tools.  We have received this latest information about changes for the TRIP database. TRIP is a healthcare database with a free version and Pro version. The Pro version is available to NHS staff via NHS OpenAthens login. Latest news: Connected articles : Just released, this powerful new system uses a combination of co-clicks, semantics and citations to recommend closely related articles to those you've already clicked on. Two new blogs to support the launch: Understanding Connected Articles  - explaining how it works.  Latest news from the TRIP database team. Exciting Additions : We have some fantastic updates to share: Quality improvements: Two recent changes have improved results. We've  updated our synonyms  which has dramatically improved a number of searches and we've also introduced a  new de-duplication system  which removed around 150,000 duplicate records. Guideline scoring: We've just added another batch of  guideline scores  - 50 in total. Nearly all our guidelines are now displayed with a score. Survey time : We emailed you a couple of weeks ago about our latest survey. It's still open so if you've not already taken part then please do so ( click here to take the survey ). Finding a NICE guideline You can view guidelines by condition, health and social care delivery, health protection, lifestyle and wellbeing, population group or healthcare setting. You can also view all guidelines and then filter by your keyword search term. Main resources to help you to find patient information: BMJ Best Practice    BMJ Best Practice is a clinical decision support tool, offering evidence-based information on a wide range of conditions and diseases. Select the Patient Leaflets option from the top menu bar. You can then either browse the A-Z list or search for the condition. It searches a range of healthcare resources and publishers and presents results which can be organised in evidence type, such as systematic reviews, guidelines, primary research, controlled trials etc. Access TRIP database is freely available on the Internet. Some features and extra content are available for the PRO version only. The PRO version is available to all NHS staff via NHS OpenAthens username / password. Search Features You can use the Search box to enter simple search terms. You can use boolean operators such as AND, OR and NOT to combine search terms, use phrase searching with quotes and truncation searching using the * (asterisk) wildcard. You can focus search results by publication type to help you get to the information you need quickly. Log in to TRIP database Go to the TRIP database - you can access TRIP directly or click the link on our NHS Resources page . Click the login button on the home page [top right]. Choose the Institution Login option to login via OpenAthens. Select your organisation - you may need to search for your organisation. TRIP should remember the organisation you have chosen for next time you log in.   The new website for TRIP has been launched so pop over to the site and take a look  - start your s earch for high-level evidence. Take a look at the video below for a short introduction and check out the key to the results page . Looking for high-level clinical evidence? TRIP is an excellent database if looking for evidence such as guidelines and reviews. Basic TRIP functionality is available to all users without needing to login. Pro functions are available to NHS staff when using TRIP on the NHS network. The Pro version includes access to much more content as well as images and videos; advanced search and filter options are also available.

NHS England-wide access to Trip Pro has been extended for a further 12 months. A ccess to Trip Pro is via IP address: NHS staff should get seamless access to the ‘Pro’ version of Trip from the NHS network.  The features that come with NHS England-wide institutional Trip Pro access, over and above the free version of Trip, are listed   here .

The national NHS subscription to Trip Pro has been extended until the end of March 2018. A reminder that access to Trip Pro is via IP address: you should get seamless access to the ‘Pro’ version of Trip from the NHS network. The features that come with NHS England-wide institutional Trip Pro access, over and above the free version of Trip, are listed   here .  In the New Year,   HEE will be seeking some feedback from you about the value of the Pro content and features to you and your organisations, to help determine whether it should continue to be funded centrally.

The TRIP database helps you to find good quality, evidence-based, healthcare information. Don’t forget that you need to be logged onto the NHS network to be able to access the pro version.
