Coronavirus resources - Medical research

Many major publishers have made parts of their collections relating to coronavirus / covid-19 freely available on the Internet. You can find articles of the latest published research presented on publishers' websites within hubs or resource centres. We have listed some of them on our coronavirus subject page under the Medical Research tab .

Coronavirus resources - rapid reviews and guidelines

 The research landscape around coronavirus / covid-19 is, not surprisingly, changing at a rapid pace. A range of organisations, royal colleges and publishers are creating rapid reviews and guidelines to help inform clinical staff of practice-changing developments. You can check what is available from a number of providers listed on our coronavirus resources page under the rapid review and guidelines tab . Published content is regularly updated so it is worth checking back regularly or signing up for updates.

Dynamed - the clinical decision support tool for UHNM staff

 Dynamed is an evidence-based, clinical decision support tool available to UHNM staff via OpenAthens login. You can access Dynamed by going to our NHS Resources page, clicking the Dynamed link and log in with your NHS OpenAthens username. Dynamed Features Dynamed has a range of features to help you to get to good quality information quickly. The key features include: A simple search box, which includes predictive text to help you to use the right search terms. The option to browse topics by specialty. BMJ Best Practice and Patient Information - webinar 19th October 2020

  October is Health Literacy Month. Learn about this and how BMJ Best Practice patient information can help with shared decision-making at this joint HEE and BMJ webinar on 19 October (12:30-13:15 BST). This lunch-time webinar, delivered jointly by HEE and BMJ for Health Literacy Month 2020, will highlight some of the health literacy challenges that lead to poor outcomes. It will also demonstrate ways that clinicians can use BMJ Best Practice to support shared decision-making. Book your place online here . BMJ Case Reports - UHNM staff can submit their own case reports

  The Health Library has a subscription to BMJ Case Reports. It is available to UHNM staff. The subscription includes: full-text access to case reports, via your NHS OpenAthens username submission of your own reports. If you would like to submit your own case report you will need to register as an author and enter our fellowship code when prompted. Get in touch with me if you need the fellowship code. Searching NHS Databases using HDAS

HDAS or Healthcare Databases Advanced Search, is the common search interface that allows you to use the same interface and options to search the different databases provided nationally by the NHS. You can complete a literature search to find articles on a wide range of healthcare topics. The databases available include major medical and nursing databases such as AMED, CINAHL, Embase, Emcare, Medline and PsychInfo. HDAS is available to all NHS staff . You will need your OpenAthens username / password to login. Note that you must login in order to access the advanced searching options and all the databases available.
