Exercise mitigates prostate cancer treatment side effects
We have funded a landmark NHS trial which has shown that a targeted lifestyle programme can reduce the side effects of hormone therapy for men with prostate cancer. It found that supervised exercise, dietary advice and behavioural support significantly improve quality of life for patients.
First patient in live AI assisted sight-saving brain surgery
A neurosurgeon was supported by artificial intelligence (AI) in real time during live surgery for the first time, helping to protect the sight of a man having a brain tumour removed. We part-funded and supported the clinical trial which used
AI technology. Rhys Hibbert, 48, from Bedfordshire, was the first patient to have surgery in this way.
