Which Medline should you use?

 Medline is a great general medical database. You can search for articles across a wide range of journal titles using keywords or thesaurus terms (MeSH). Medline is accessible from different platforms for NHS users - Ebsco, Ovid and Proquest. All accessible using your NHS OpenAthens username. Which version is the best to use? Using Proquest to search NHS databases

  If you need to look for literature on mental health topics make sure you start with the   Proquest databases . Proquest hosts key healthcare databases  BNI (for nursing topics), Medline  (a general medical database), PsyArticles (Key journal titles for psychology-based topics ) and PsycInfo (for comprehensive coverage of mental health topics). Using Ovid to search NHS databases

 Use the OVID databases to complete a comprehensive literature search. Ovid hosts key healthcare databases AMED (for alternative and allied health topics),  Emcare  (for nursing topics), Embase (for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and biomedical topics), HMIC (for management topics) and  Medline  (a general medical database). The following resources can help you to get to grips with searching on the Ovid platform. Using Browzine to view NHS Journals

  Do you need to find the full-text of an article? Do you want to view the latest issue of a journal title? You can view NHS-based journal titles using Browzine. Browzine is an online resource which allows you to search for journal titles and check the access options for journal articles. You may be able to: Access full-text via a PDF download Link to the full-text online Request a copy from the Health Library Some content presented will be freely available as open access content; some will be subscribed content and you will need to log in using your NHS OpenAthens username. Some content will not be available and you can submit an article request to the library. We will then try to locate a copy from another library. How to access Browzine You will need to link to the version of Browzine that is set up for your NHS organization.
