Whether you want to create your own bespoke patient information or find something ready-made, take a look at the options below. Main resources to help you to find patient information: BMJ Best Practice    BMJ Best Practice is a clinical decision support tool, offering evidence-based information on a wide range of conditions and diseases. Select the Patient Leaflets option from the top menu bar. You can then either browse the A-Z list or search for the condition. Once presented with the information you can either print it out or download it as a PDF file. BMJ Best Practice  is available to all NHS staff. Log in with your NHS OpenAthens username.  From NICE: NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) topics  are aimed at healthcare professionals working in primary and first contact care in the UK. The 370 topics cover 1000 clinical presentations or patient scenarios and are free to access. The following CKS topics have been created or updated over the past months: October: Angio-oedema and anaphylaxis  – the topic has been updated to align with the Resuscitation Council UK guideline  Emergency treatment of anaphylaxis. Guidelines for healthcare providers . Recommendations to routinely administer IV or IM chlorphenamine and hydrocortisone have been removed from this topic.   NICE Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) topics   are aimed at healthcare professionals working in primary and first contact care in the UK. The 370 topics cover 1000 clinical presentations or patient scenarios and are free to access. The following CKS topics have been created or updated over the past months: April:  Platelets – abnormal counts and cancer  is a  new  CKS topic. The evidence base has been reviewed in detail, and recommendations are clearly justified and transparently linked to the supporting evidence. Itch – widespread .  News from NICE about Clinical Knowledge Summaries. Clinical Knowledge Summaries provide healthcare professionals with up-to-date easily accessible evidence relating to many of the conditions and diseases presented within primary care. The CKS webpages have a new feature, which allows you to download a version of CKS onto your desktop or mobile phone. The web app is available in most browsers, including Edge and Chrome - but isn't currently supported by IE11 or Safari. I have been sent the following information, from NICE, regarding Clinical Knowledge Summaries updates for the past 3 months. Clinical Knowledge Summaries are designed to support primary care and provide guidance and recommendations on a wide range of healthcare conditions. April A new topic on  Coronavirus COVID 19  was created and continuously updated throughout the last 3 months. Other CKS topics updated in April include: Chest infections – adult  –  Links to the COVID-19 management scenario have been added in the Assessment section and the Management of community-acquired pneumonia section to highlight that assessment of suspected chest infection and management of community-acquired pneumonia will differ during the COVID-19 pandemic. What is it? Clinical Knowledge Summaries are evidence-based summaries and practical guidance of a range of primary care presentations. They are developed and published by NICE. Key Features You can find a summary for a condition by selecting from the A-Z list, selecting by specialty or using the simple search box. Screen-shot of the Clinical Knowledge Summaries example page Information presented will often include elements such as diagnosis, management and prescription. References will be included and there is usually an indication of how up-to-date the recommendations are. How can it help you? Clinical Knowledge Summaries are mainly aimed at staff working in Primary Care. You can check the latest evidence for the treatment of the included conditions. How to access it? Clinical Knowledge Summaries are freely available on the Internet on the NICE website.
