Got an article title you want to find but don’t have the full reference? Maybe a colleague has told you about a good article to read but they don’t have all the details. How can you find it?
Here is an example:
Health-related quality of life in youth with type 1 diabetes by Shapira
Search for the full-text by article title
1. Go to the
Health Library web page Articles for the NHS.
2. Page down
to the NHS Knowledge & Library Hub section.
3. Enter your article
title in double quotes.
4. Click the “Search”
button.
You will be taken to the Hub search results article page. What if the search returns lots of results? What can you do?
Use the
filter options
Select from
the various filter options to focus the number of entries in the search
results. You might try:
- publication date range if you know the journal is recent
- journal article source type
- subject filter option
Use the Hub
advanced search options
Use the advanced search to focus your results. Click “Advanced Search” from the Hub results page (under the search box).
In this
example I can add the author’s name to the search criteria. See the screen-shot
where I have entered “shapiro” and seleced author.
Full-text options
are presented with the article in the search results. Options available may
include:
- Article Link
- Request Article
If the
full-text is available you may be prompted to enter your NHS OpenAthens
username to access the full-text.
If
full-text is not available you may be presented with our print journal
collection or asked to complete an article request form.
