Resource of the week #3: NICE Guidelines

What is it?
NICE is the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. They provide evidence-based guidance and advice to the health, public health and social care sectors.

They provide guidance on a wide range of topics and service areas:

  • Conditions and diseases
  • Health Protection
  • Lifestyle and wellbeing
  • Population Groups
  • Service delivery, organisation and staffing
  • Settings

How can it help you?
NICE guidelines include recommendations of care and treatment. Some can provide tools to help you to implement the guidelines. NICE provide references of the evidence that has been used to compile the guideline.

How to access it?
NICE Guidelines are freely available on the Internet. You can browse through the sections or complete a simple search.

Videos
NICE have their own YouTube channel where you can find more information about them as well as more information about specific guidelines.
