Find full-text articles from NHS eJournals to help you to make key decisions

You can access the latest research and articles from ejournals, giving you the best evidence to make key decisions.

What are ejournals?

eJournals are online electronic versions of journals, accessible via the Internet. They contain articles and published research and are usually issued on a regular basis throughout the year.

Many journals are not freely available online. The Health Library and the NHS subscribe to ejournals on your behalf. Our ejournals collection is developed to support your learning, research and patient care.

How to Access…

Who can access?

The ejournals that you can access will vary depending on the organisation that you work for and what they have decided to purchase for you. All NHS staff can access nationally purchased content. The Library has purchased titles specifically for the NHS organisations we support.

You can find out which titles are available by checking the NHS Journals A-Z list. You will need to login with your NHS OpenAthens username:

Key Features

Use the NHS Journals A-Z list to find out if you have full-text access to the journals you need. Make sure that you log in to the list to see all the titles available to you.

Search for eJournal Title

Enter the title of the journal you are looking for into the text box. You can select to search for the exact title, start of the title or for all words in the title. Using start of title is often the most helpful option to choose.

You could also elect to browse through the collection via the alphabetical list, although this option can be quite slow loading each page.

Check Holdings

The search results will present a list of titles that match your search criteria. Each entry for a journal will include all the options where this title is available. In the example, this title is available from multiple platforms, for different years. Note that the title may not be available from its main publisher, but via a database or other platform.

To go to the full-text, first check which option contains the year/volume for the article you are looking for. Then click the link for that option. You may need to logon to the platform using your OpenAthens details, or using additional authentication details provided on the A-Z list.
