Get started with Dynamed - a key clinical tool to support UHNM staff.

What is it?

Dynamed is an evidence-based, point-of-care, clinical reference tool. You can use it to find guidance and recommendations on a wide range of diseases and conditions. Information presented can include: epidemiology, history and physical, diagnosis, management, complications, prevention and screening and patient information. All content is fully referenced.

Dynamed is available to staff at UHNM.

Log in

You need to login with your NHS OpenAthens username. Either use the link on our Healthcare Resources web page or go directly to the Dynamed OpenAthens login page:

Key Features

Simple Search Box

There is a simple search box where you can enter your search terms. Predictive text is available to help you to complete your search terms or jump to topics.

Browse by Specialty

You can browse specialty by the A-Z list. Topic pages are available for all entries in the list.

Medical Calculators

Dynamed includes a range of medical calculators and decision tools, which may appear in related search results or attached to topic pages. You can also browse through the A-Z list.

Creating Alerts

You can use Dynamed to keep up-to-date with the latest evidence affecting a range of topics. Sign-up for email updates by following: all updates, all updates affecting practice only, a specific topic, a category, updates to a category that are practice changing only.

Mobile App

Get access to information on the go via the Dynamed app.

Start Searching

Simple searching can give you access to a wealth of information, presented in an easy-to-read format. Below is a screen-shot of the topic page returned by a search for “Crohn disease in adults”.

ePub ahead of Print

  ePub ahead of print means that the article is being listed online before it is released in the published journal issue, whether published online or in print. Whether you can access the full-text of the epub-ahead-of-print will depend on the publisher’s rules for our subscription. Some publishers will include ahead-of-print in our subscription and you’ll have no problem accessing them. However, some publishers will not include this access in our subscription. Unfortunately, there is no way of indicating whether the epub-ahead-of-print is available or not on our journal lists. You won’t really be able to tell unless you try to access it and fail. What can you do if you want an unavailable epub-ahead-of-print?
