Clinical Key login problems on the Keele network

UHNM users who use Clinical Key may find trouble logging in if using the Keele network.

Clinical Key is available to our UHNM users via athens login. We have come across a problem whereby if you have not activated your Clinical Key account, you cannot log in on the Keele network.

We believe that this is something to do with Keele also holding subscriptions with the publisher Elsevier but not having a subscription to Clinical Key. It is unclear why the problem is only affecting unactivated accounts.

We have not experienced any problems accessing Clinical Key via the NHS network or via a home connection, whether the account is activated or not.

For information about activating your Clinical Key account see our blog post here.

The problem may also occur at other organisations / institutions who have Elsevier subscriptions but not Clinical Key.

We have reported the problem to the publishers and they are investigating.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
